Vivien Chan is a design historian, educator, writer, and imagemaker based in the UK.
In/Out of Practice is a manifesto of sorts, as a way to keep myself writing for myself. In the past I have written articles for my blog, school blogs and other sites that no longer exist. I have migrated those posts here for posterity, enjoyment and nostalgia.

As of 2025, I have also started writing a newsletter of the same name, and I have chosen to send and host this manually, without any external party. I hope to use it to connect in small intimate space, and workshop ideas along the way with readers. If you’d like to come for the ride just let me know either by Instagram DM or email.
